01.07.2008First hotel in Vietnam under Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts - Mövenpick Hotel Saigon
In January Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts announced it was taking over two hotels in Vietnam. On 1 July 2008 the Swiss hotel group took charge of the management of the first Vietnamese hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. With immediate effect the upscale City Hotel now goes by the name of Mövenpick Hotel Saigon. The management of a second hotel within Vietnam, specifically in Hanoi, is to go ahead in a subsequent phase towards the end of the year.
26.06.2008Plans underway for a new Mövenpick Resort in Tanzania - Mövenpick Resort Arusha
A new Mövenpick Resort is to be built near Arusha, Tanzania, by 2011. A management agreement has just been signed with the owning company, Taninvest Group of Companies. The Swiss international hotel chain has been present in Tanzania since 2005, with the award-winning Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel Dar es Salaam now one of the leading hotels in the country.
03.06.2008A new highlight at the Red Sea: - Mövenpick Resort El Sokhna
1 June 2008 saw the opening of another upscale Mövenpick Resort in El Sokhna, Egypt. Alongside Taba, El Gouna, El Quseir and Sharm El Sheikh, it is already the fifth Mövenpick destination on the Red Sea.
21.05.2008New 5-star Mövenpick Hotel in Al Khobar - Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is to get another first-class Mövenpick Hotel with the opening in the next few days of a new Mövenpick Hotel with 143 rooms and suites in Al Khobar. With five existing hotels and four currently under construction the Swiss international hotel chain is further strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia.

The management contract between the owner company I.R.P.S. (Immobiliare Residenziale Pineta Sacchetti s.r.l.) and the international hotel chain based in Switzerland was terminated by mutual agreement on 1 April 2008.
07.04.2008Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Fiscal year 2007 - Significant EBIT growth
For the fifth consecutive year, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts (MH&R) has reported consistently strong earnings growth and once again achieved a very positive operating result in fiscal 2007. With overall sales of CHF 831.2 million (prior year: CHF 696.8 million), MH&R was able to improve its EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) result by 53 % relative to the prior year (CHF 8.7 million) to CHF 13.3 million.
