Chalong Temple
Wat Chalong is Phuket’s most famous Buddhist temple and once served as a refuge for local residents who fled the gang wars between rival factions of Chinese labourers.
The esteemed monk, Luang Poh Chang, is said to have dispelled the bad spirits that were causing the disruptions. He and fellow monks are honoured at the temple where devotees apply gold paper and make other offerings for protection.
