Also known as The Royal Tombs, these are the largest and most impressive of Bahrain’s 85,000 burial mounds. These tombs may or may not have been the final resting places of kings, but they are definitely large: up to 15 metres (50 feet) high and 45 metres (150 feet) in diameter.

Historically, this is one of the most important sites in Bahrain. Located on the north cost, the fort was built in the 14th century to defend Portugal’s recent acquisition of the islands.
