Zeche Zollverein

The Zollverein mine was built in 1932. In 1986 it was taken out of use as a mine. Today, however, the shaft is a famous memorial to mining industry history. At the "Zeche Zollverein" (in the former boiler house), the Red Dot Design Museum is a genuine tour highlight. The "largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide" awaits you! Marvel at 1,500 prize-winning international exhibits revealing the link between industrial heritage and contemporary design trends. Additionally, the Ruhr museum, more galleries and a restaurant await your visit.
